Orran Brings Annual Fundraising Gala to Los Angeles

The nonprofit’s Oct. 3 gala at the Petersen Automotive Museum will raise funds for vulnerable children, families and elderly residents in Armenia

Los Angeles is home to one of the largest Armenian communities outside Armenia, making it a fitting backdrop for an organization that has spent more than two decades supporting some of the country’s most vulnerable families.

On Saturday, October 3, Orran will hold its annual fundraising gala at the Petersen Automotive Museum, bringing together supporters from Los Angeles and around the world to raise money for the organization’s work in Armenia.

Founded 26 years ago, Orran helps vulnerable children, families, and elderly residents, including those displaced from Syria and Artsakh. The organization says more than 40,000 people have received support through its programs, which include daily hot meals, after-school care, educational assistance and cultural activities.

Emmy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Michael Goorjian will emcee the evening, which will include a live auction and opportunities to support Orran’s Sponsor a Child and Sponsor a Meal programs.

This year’s gala will also honor longtime benefactor Haig Bagerdjian, a U.S. Army veteran, USC graduate, and Harvard-trained attorney whose career has spanned Hollywood and international business, including leadership roles at Point.360 and Global Medical Solutions.

“For 26 years, Orran has been a place where no one is turned away and no one is forgotten,” founder Armine K. Hovannisian said.

For Los Angeles’ Armenian community, the evening is more than a fundraiser. It’s another bridge between a diaspora deeply rooted in Southern California and families thousands of miles away whose lives remain closely connected to it.
